Explained

What people think about Hot Pursuit

Hot Pursuit is at its best when it leans into the sheer, mismatched spark of Reese Witherspoon’s tightly wound do-gooder colliding with Sofía Vergara’s fearless, wisecracking survivor, and lets that chemistry carry the movie like a buddy-comedy engine with a turbocharger. Director Anne Fletcher keeps the pace snappy, with punchlines that land because the editing and dialogue rhythms know exactly when to cut, when to pause, and when to let the chaos spill over into a chase or a brawl. The vibe is loud, sunny, and gleefully ridiculous—more “two people barely holding it together” than gritty crime thriller—so it’s ideal if you want a high-energy, low-stress action-comedy that moves. It won’t convert anyone looking for sophistication or realism, but if you’re on the fence and craving a fast, funny ride powered by two committed stars, this one earns its laughs.
