Non-Stop (2013)
Mysterious emotional thriller about a woman who, after being left at the altar, has a brief liaison with a handsome stranger on a plane which ultimately puts her – and everyone else on the flight – in terrible danger.
What people think about Non-Stop
Non-Stop turns an everyday flight into a pressure-cooker puzzle, the kind of high-concept thriller that grabs you by the collar and doesn’t let go until the wheels touch down. In the cramped, watchful world of a transatlantic cabin, it builds suspense with smart misdirection and ticking-clock dread, letting paranoia spread from seat to seat while the stakes keep climbing. Liam Neeson anchors the chaos with bruised authority, selling both the action and the uneasy sense that anyone could be the threat—or the scapegoat. It’s pulpy and proudly so, with some violence and rough edges, but if you’re in the mood for a tense, crowd-pleasing ride that knows exactly how to keep you guessing, this one delivers.
Non-Stop wants to be a tight, claustrophobic “who can you trust at 30,000 feet?” thriller, and for stretches it does generate real tension just by trapping everyone in a metal tube with a ticking clock. The problem is the script keeps asking you to swallow bigger and bigger coincidences, and by the time the final-act explanations roll in, it can feel less like clever misdirection and more like the movie yanking the wheel to force a twist. Lacey Chabert and the cast do what they can with the material, and the mid-flight paranoia is the best part, but if you’re the type who needs airtight logic and satisfying payoffs, this one may leave you rolling your eyes long before it lands. If you can enjoy a pulpy, made-for-TV style thriller as long as it’s brisk and tense, you’ll get some entertainment—just don’t expect realism or a cleanly earned ending.
