Leviathan (2014)

The cinematography captures a harsh coastal beauty that doesn’t romanticize suffering, it frames it, letting the satire land with a cold, clear sting rather than a speech. Leviathan is aiming for a bleak, angry portrait of ordinary people getting crushed by corrupt power, and it commits to that vision with stark coastal imagery and performances that feel uncomfortably real.
