The problem is the execution and framing: it leans so hard into outrage at institutional incompetence that the smuggling element can feel oddly minimized, which may leave you feeling pushed to sympathize rather than allowed to wrestle with the moral mess. If you want a tightly balanced crime-and-consequences story, this may frustrate you; it plays more like a one-way indictment than a nuanced thriller.
