Peelers is the kind of scrappy, high-voltage midnight horror that knows exactly what it is: a nasty little siege movie set under neon lights, where the camera, the music, and the momentum keep pushing you forward even when you want to look away. Sevé Schelenz stages the chaos with real flair and punchy visuals, and Wren Walker’s Blue Jean gives the mayhem a surprisingly grounded center—she’s not just surviving, she’s fighting for her people. The effects are gleefully gnarly in that crowd-pleasing B-movie way, with enough personality in the characters to make the carnage matter beyond the splatter. It’s absolutely not for the squeamish or anyone sensitive to heavy nudity, harsh language, and boozy, grimy atmosphere—but if you want energetic, unapologetic genre fun, Peelers delivers.

Peelers is trying to be a scrappy, grindhouse-style siege horror set in a strip club, mixing sleaze, splatter, and a “last stand” vibe on closing night. When it leans into the trashy, over-the-top energy, it can be fun in a beer-and-blood kind of way, with a couple of gnarly effects and a game lead performance holding the chaos together. The problem is the movie can’t decide if it’s a goofy B-movie or something more serious, so the humor lands forced, the logic gets wobbly, and the acting and storytelling feel uneven. If you’re not comfortable with heavy nudity and crude sexual content alongside moderate gore and nonstop substance use, or you’re hoping for fresh zombie/infected ideas, this will likely feel like a noisy, messy night you didn’t need to attend.
