Bacurau (2019)

The catch is it’s deliberately shaggy: the story sprawls, the tone swerves, and a lot of the characters function more like symbols than people you’ll deeply connect with, so if you want a tight, conventional mystery with clean payoffs, you may find it messy and emotionally distant. It’s also extremely violent and intense, with bursts of gore that aren’t there to “fun up” the action so much as to make you sit with it.
