John Caird’s staging captures the story’s sense of awe and peril without losing its tenderness, and the filmed production lets you drink in the Imperial Theatre’s scale, the ingenious practical effects, and the performers’ emotional clarity—especially the alternating Chihiros, Kanna Hashimoto and Mone Kamishiraishi, who make courage feel hard-won and real.
