Come and Find Me (2016)

Come and Find Me works because it takes a familiar missing-person setup and quietly turns it into something more intimate and unnerving: a thriller about how well you can ever know the person you love. Zack Whedon keeps the tension simmering rather than screaming, letting the mystery tighten in small, unsettling turns while the world around the hero feels plausibly indifferent and then suddenly dangerous. Anchoring it all is Aaron Paul, giving the film a bruised, believable center as his desperation hardens into determination, making even the pulpy twists feel emotionally earned. It’s a modest, no-frills kind of suspense—more mood and momentum than spectacle—so if you want nonstop action you may find it restrained, but if you like smart, credible thrillers that pull you forward on pure unease, it’s easy to get hooked.

Come and Find Me is clearly aiming for a moody, intimate missing-person mystery that slowly morphs into a conspiracy thriller, and you can feel the effort to keep you emotionally tethered to David’s obsession. The problem is the film often confuses “slow-burn” with “stalling,” leaning hard on repetitive flashbacks and familiar twists that make the middle stretch feel longer than it needs to be. When it finally ramps up, the escalation can feel a bit forced, and the payoff may not land if you’re hoping for a sharp, convincing climax. Still, Aaron Paul sells the desperation, and there’s a gritty, paranoid atmosphere that works—just don’t go in expecting a tight, relentlessly suspenseful thriller.
