David Mackenzie directs with a steady hand, but it’s Taylor Sheridan’s razor-wire screenplay and the crackling performances that make it sing: Chris Pine brings quiet, wounded resolve, Ben Foster is a volatile spark you can’t look away from, and Jeff Bridges slides in with a worn-in charisma that makes every line land. The movie moves with the tense inevitability of a chase, yet it never forgets the human cost beneath the adrenaline, letting small moments of atmosphere and character do as much work as the gunplay. It’s not for everyone if you’re sensitive to strong violence and very rough language, but if you want a crime drama with real bite and a haunting sense of place, it’s absolutely worth the trip.
