GirlHouse is a sleek, mean little modern slasher that takes a very 21st-century setup—voyeurism as entertainment—and turns it into a pressure-cooker thriller with real bite. It moves with confident pacing, letting you settle into the unnerving, camera-saturated vibe before tightening the screws and unleashing an antagonist who feels frighteningly plausible rather than cartoonish. Ali Cobrin anchors the film with grounded, sympathetic work, which makes the brutality hit harder when the violence arrives—staged with nasty proficiency and unapologetic gore for fans who like their scares sharp and physical. If you’re allergic to exploitative premises or you want your horror bloodless, this won’t convert you, but if you miss slashers that are efficiently made, nasty when they need to be, and surprisingly tense, it’s absolutely worth the night.

GirlHouse wants to mash up a modern “internet voyeurism” cautionary tale with a straight-up slasher, and you can feel the filmmakers aiming for slick, guilty-fun exploitation with a timely hook. The problem is the script leans hard on predictable morality beats and a thin romantic angle, and it tips its hand early, so the suspense never really tightens the way a good thriller should. It also slides into grisly sensationalism that can feel more like provocation than storytelling, which makes the whole ride a bit formulaic even when it’s competently shot.
