Gabriela Cowperthwaite builds her case with an almost courtroom precision—former trainers, experts, and unsettling visuals fit together into a narrative that’s as compelling as it is authoritative, without ever feeling preachy for the sake of it. The tone is urgent and emotionally bruising, equal parts wonder at these animals’ intelligence and outrage at the machinery that treats them as product. It’s not an easy watch—some scenes and descriptions are genuinely disturbing—but if you want a film that’s gripping, powerful, and hard to shake, this one earns your time.

It’s effective and often gripping, but it’s also unapologetically prosecutorial—if you want a balanced, debate-style investigation with equal time for SeaWorld’s side, you may find it one-sided and a bit agenda-driven.
