Vic Armstrong keeps the pace brisk and the tension practical—fuel running low, airports collapsing into chaos, strangers turning on each other—so even if you’re not drawn to the theology, you can still enjoy it as a lean, apocalyptic thriller. Nicolas Cage brings a jittery, human edge to the pilot at the center of the storm, and the movie’s best moments come from watching ordinary people try to stay decent when reality stops making sense. It’s not for everyone—especially if you’re allergic to faith-forward storytelling—but if you’re on the fence and want a harmless, mildly gripping disaster ride with a pulpy sci-fi hook, it’s an easy watch.
