It’s consistently funny in that quiet Peanuts way, with sweetness that never turns syrupy, and it treats failure not as a punchline but as something you can survive with a little hope and a lot of heart. If you want fast, noisy comedy you might find it too soft-spoken, but if you’ve ever rooted for an underdog just trying his best, it’s an easy film to fall for.

The Peanuts Movie is clearly trying to modernize Charlie Brown and Snoopy without betraying the gentle, bittersweet spirit of the strip, and for the most part it succeeds at being clean, kind, and easy for kids to follow. The downside is that it often plays things so safe it can feel mild and a bit unambitious, with a story that’s more pleasant than genuinely moving or sharp. If you want a bigger emotional punch or the quieter melancholy of earlier Peanuts specials, you might find this one agreeable but forgettable, though the Snoopy aerial fantasies and classic character dynamics still provide some warm, reliable comfort.
