Tracers (2015)

Tracers is the kind of lean, breathless action movie that understands its greatest asset: motion, pure and simple, shot with a street-level love for New York’s hard edges and vertical possibilities. It drops you into the rush of bike lanes, rooftops, and narrow escapes, where parkour isn’t a gimmick but the film’s heartbeat—cleanly choreographed, satisfyingly physical, and often thrilling in that “how did they do that?” way. Taylor Lautner throws himself into the role with an athlete’s commitment, and the camera keeps up, giving the stunts room to land while the city’s textures glow under slick, nighttime lighting. The story is more functional than surprising, so if you need intricate plotting you may shrug, but if you want a PG-13 adrenaline shot that stays in motion and makes urban space feel like a playground, this one delivers.

Tracers wants to be a slick, street-level adrenaline rush: bike-messenger grit, parkour swagger, and a heist-thriller backbone built to keep you moving. The problem is the story and dialogue feel like they were assembled from a kit of familiar tropes, so the twists land with a thud and the emotional beats come off corny rather than earned. If you’re here mainly for momentum, athletic stunts, and a breezy Taylor Lautner action vehicle, it’s serviceable and occasionally fun to watch in motion. If you need sharp writing, believable character choices, or a heist plot that actually surprises you, this will likely feel like a glossy workout video wrapped around a very predictable script.
