Wrong Turn 5: Bloodlines is the kind of unapologetic, midnight-movie slasher that knows exactly what it is: a Halloween-fueled carnival of bad decisions, backwoods menace, and gleefully nasty practical gore. The Mountain Man Festival backdrop gives the whole thing a rowdy, costumed-party vibe, and the movie keeps the pace mean and brisk as the night spirals into a siege of escalating, creative splatter. It’s not trying to be elevated horror or even particularly subtle—this is exploitation energy served hot, with Doug Bradley adding a wickedly welcome genre gravitas. If you’re on the fence because you want scares over shock, or you’re squeamish about nudity and excessive bloodletting, this won’t convert you—but if you want a loud, messy, kill-heavy ride, it delivers the goods.

Wrong Turn 5: Bloodlines is clearly aiming for a Halloween-festival slasher vibe with nonstop carnage and a mean-spirited siege setup, and it doesn’t pretend to be anything more elevated than that. The problem is the execution: the low-budget look, shaky CGI, and flat acting drain tension from scenes that should feel suspenseful, leaving you with gore as the main attraction rather than fear. It’s also heavy on gratuitous nudity and nasty, drawn-out violence, so if you want clever plotting, likable characters, or even a fun campy tone, this will likely feel like a chore.
