22 Jump Street is the rare sequel that knows exactly what it is and gets funnier by leaning into it, turning the very idea of “doing it again” into a running joke with real comedic bite. Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum have a loose, lovable chemistry that makes even the dumbest detours feel like hanging out with two friends who somehow keep stumbling into car chases and gunfire. Lord and Miller keep the pace snappy and the vibe bright and rowdy, mixing frat-house absurdity with genuinely well-staged action and a surprising sweetness about growing up without ever getting sentimental. It’s loud, raunchy, and proudly R-rated—so if crude language and college-party chaos aren’t your thing, steer clear—but if you want a comedy that laughs hard while still delivering a clean hit of buddy-cop adrenaline, this one earns the tuition.

22 Jump Street is clearly trying to be a self-aware, bigger-and-louder sequel that pokes fun at its own existence while giving Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum more room to riff. When it works, the chemistry is strong, the college setting adds a few fresh angles, and the action-comedy set pieces have real energy. But a lot of it is knowingly repetitive—same basic beats, familiar twists, and gags that sometimes feel recycled even when the movie winks at you about it.
