Wild Card (2015)

Wild Card is a lean, bruising Las Vegas thriller that lets Jason Statham do more than just throw punches—he plays a man with charm, damage, and a self-destructive streak, and the movie actually lingers on that. There’s a tough, offbeat snap to the dialogue and a sleazy neon vibe that makes the city feel like both playground and trap, while the action lands with a nasty, practical impact instead of glossy heroics. Simon West stages the fights with clarity and cruelty, and the supporting players give the story an unpredictable, character-driven edge that keeps it from feeling like a routine revenge ride. Fair warning: it deals with very dark subject matter and isn’t a light watch, but if you want a gritty, slightly oddball crime film where the violence has consequences and the lead isn’t invincible, it’s a surprisingly satisfying gamble.
