Aleksandra Hamkało gives Emilia a raw, watchful vulnerability that makes her growth feel hard-won, while Antoni Pawlicki plays Maciek with just enough charm to make the menace land when it arrives. It’s sexy, dramatic, and increasingly scary, though if you’re looking for a comforting love story—or you’re sensitive to explicit nudity and a toxic relationship dynamic—this one is meant to unsettle rather than soothe.

Big Love is clearly aiming for a sweaty, cautionary romance-thriller about obsession, control, and a young woman mistaking intensity for love, framed with interrogation scenes to add a sense of inevitability. The problem is it often plays like melodrama dressed up as danger: the relationship can feel forced, the dialogue strained, and the story beats arrive exactly when you expect them. If you’re hoping for psychological nuance, believable character shifts, or a thriller that builds tension through smart plotting, this may feel shallow and repetitive. That said, if you’re in the mood for a glossy, sexually charged “toxic love” spiral and don’t mind heavy-handed storytelling, it can still work as a straightforward, pulpy watch.
