Home is the kind of animated sci-fi comedy that wins you over with sheer sweetness: a bright, candy-colored invasion movie that’s really a road-trip buddy story about learning to see the “other” as a person. The film’s secret weapon is the odd-couple chemistry between Tip, a sharp, determined kid with real emotional stakes, and Oh, a hilariously anxious alien whose earnestness (and Jim Parsons’ pitch-perfect delivery) turns every social misstep into a laugh. Tim Johnson keeps the tone light and bouncy—plenty of slapstick, playful world-building, and pop-fueled energy—while still sneaking in a gentle message about empathy and belonging that lands without feeling preachy. It’s not for everyone if you’re allergic to kid-friendly silliness or broad cartoon humor, but if you want a warm, funny family movie with heart and a surprisingly sincere friendship at its center, this one’s easy to like.
