Stuck in Love (2013)

Stuck in Love is one of those small, disarmingly human movies that makes you feel like you’ve been invited to sit in on a family’s messy, funny, tender year—and somehow you’re grateful for the company. Josh Boone gives the story a warmly literate vibe, where books and bruised hearts share the same shelf, and the terrific ensemble (Greg Kinnear’s aching optimism, Jennifer Connelly’s quiet gravity, and Lily Collins’ sharp-edged vulnerability) makes every awkward pause and half-spoken truth land. It’s sweet without being sugary, honest about how love can misfire and still matter, and quietly satisfying in the way it lets people be flawed without punishing them for it.
