Hannah Fidell directs with remarkable restraint, trusting atmosphere over speeches, and the result is a lean, intimate drama that feels less like a headline and more like watching a private life come apart in real time. Lindsay Burdge is fearless and painfully human at the center, while the crisp Texas suburban cinematography and understated score keep tightening the mood without tipping into melodrama. It’s not for everyone—its candor about sex and its refusal to offer easy moral comfort can be bracing—but if you like character studies that linger like a guilty thought, this one is hard to shake.
