Tasmanian Devils (2013)

Tasmanian Devils is the kind of lean, punchy Syfy creature feature that knows exactly what it is: a brisk survival ride where gorgeous wilderness vistas and a “don’t go there” premise collide with old-myth menace and modern adrenaline. Director Zach Lipovsky keeps the momentum up with a fun mix of BASE-jumping bravado, ranger-versus-the-unknown tension, and a cast (led by Danica McKellar) that’s easy to root for even as the body count climbs. The movie’s pleasures are straightforward—snappy pacing, crunchy monster mayhem, and a pulpy adventure tone that never pretends it’s prestige horror, but still delivers some satisfyingly gnarly moments. If you’re in the mood for smart character drama or subtle scares, look elsewhere; if you want an entertaining, creature-driven Saturday-night escape with just enough bite, this one hits the spot.
