Loot feels special because it drops you into Kathmandu with the immediacy of a street-level thriller, making the city itself pulse like a character—restless, watchful, and just a little dangerous. Director Nischal Basnet keeps the energy tight and propulsive, building a gritty, lived-in world where five men chasing “easy” success discover how quickly trust turns into a liability. The performances, especially from Saugat Malla, Karma Shakya, and Dayahang Rai, give the film a raw human edge, so the action and crime aren’t just spectacle—they’re pressure tests for friendship, loyalty, and ego. If you’re in the mood for a grounded heist story with escalating tension and a strong sense of place, this is a punchy, absorbing ride; if you prefer glossy, heroic crime films, its rougher realism may not be your flavor.

Loot is clearly aiming to be a gritty Kathmandu crime caper: fast money, fast friendships, and even faster betrayals, with a “this is how the city really works” edge. The problem is that while the setup is punchy, the story leans heavily on familiar heist-and-double-cross beats, so if you’ve seen a lot of crime thrillers you may find the twists more expected than shocking. The pacing can also feel uneven, spending time on attitude and street flavor more than clean, tightly engineered plotting. Still, the cast brings solid energy and the local texture gives it a lived-in vibe, so it’s worth a look if you want a Nepalese crime film with swagger—but maybe skip it if you’re craving a razor-sharp, surprise-heavy heist.
