The problem is that, for all its competence, it can feel more like a very well-drilled genre exercise than something that surprises you—if you’re looking for innovation or fresh twists, it may come off familiar. It’s also relentlessly grim and violent, with a cold, procedural tone that keeps you at arm’s length rather than inviting emotional investment. That said, the cat-and-mouse performances and the escalating pressure cooker pacing are strong, so if you want a hard-edged, efficient crime film that doesn’t romanticize anyone, it’ll deliver; if you want style fireworks or big character warmth, it probably won’t.
