Mood Indigo (2013)

Mood Indigo is the kind of film that reminds you cinema can still feel like a freshly invented art form: Michel Gondry turns romance into a living, breathing dream where rooms, objects, and even light seem to respond to emotion. It’s whimsical and crackling with visual imagination, but beneath the playful surfaces runs a surprisingly tender current, as love meets a surreal illness that’s both fantastical and quietly devastating. Romain Duris and Audrey Tautou make the central relationship feel disarmingly sincere, grounding the strangeness so the melancholy lands instead of floating away.
