Heaven Is for Real is at its best when it keeps its feet on the ground, treating an extraordinary claim with the quiet, human-scale intimacy of a small-town family trying to make sense of what happened to their child. Greg Kinnear gives Todd Burpo a steady, lived-in decency that makes the film feel less like a sermon and more like a father’s honest wrestling match with doubt, responsibility, and hope, while Kelly Reilly brings warmth and steel to the home front. Director Randall Wallace lets the story breathe with restrained visuals and a surprisingly gentle, wry humor that softens the heaviness without undercutting it.
