Sisters (2015)

Sisters is the kind of comedy that feels like hanging out with the funniest people you know—if those people also happened to be Tina Fey and Amy Poehler firing on all cylinders. Jason Moore turns a simple premise into a gleefully escalating, big-hearted mess, where the laughs come fast but the nostalgia and sibling tenderness sneak in when you least expect it. The vibe is rowdy and R-rated—crude, chaotic, and proudly ridiculous—yet it never loses sight of the bruised affection that keeps these two orbiting each other. If you’re not into raunchy party mayhem, it may be too loud for your taste, but if you want a feel-good farce with real warmth underneath the bad decisions, this one delivers.

Sisters is clearly aiming for a raucous, nostalgic “one last night” comedy that lets Amy Poehler and Tina Fey riff on grown-up failure, sibling baggage, and the panic of leaving your past behind. When it leans into their chemistry, a few party-set pieces and Maya Rudolph’s energy, it can be genuinely fun in a messy, late-night way. But the story is pretty predictable, the pacing wobbles between heartfelt and cartoon-chaotic, and a lot of the supporting characters feel like stereotypes rather than people, which makes the whole thing feel more like a sketch collection than a solid movie. If you want a tight, clever comedy with consistent tone, this may grate; if you’re mainly here for Fey/Poehler banter and don’t mind crude, R-rated mayhem, it’ll do the job.
