Gold is clearly aiming to be a sweaty, stranger-than-fiction cautionary tale about ambition, greed, and the American hustle, with a big swing from jungle adventure to Wall Street circus. The problem is it often feels like two different movies stitched together, so the pacing lurches and the satire never lands with the bite it thinks it has.
