Explained

What people think about That Awkward Moment

That Awkward Moment is a slick, fast-talking rom-com that understands how funny it is when bravado and real feelings start tripping over each other, and it sells that idea with the easy charisma of Zac Efron, Miles Teller, and Michael B. Jordan bouncing off one another like lifelong friends. The dialogue has a lived-in snap, the set-pieces land with a confident sense of timing, and beneath the bro-code posturing there’s a surprisingly sincere current about growing up without announcing you’re doing it. It’s raunchy and unapologetically R-rated, so if crude sex humor and heavy profanity aren’t your thing, you’ll want to pass—but if you like your romance served with sharp banter and genuine chemistry, this one goes down smooth. Most of all, it’s the kind of comedy that makes the awkwardness feel earned, because the people inside it feel real enough to root for.
