Jersey Boys is clearly aiming to translate the stage hit into a grounded, relationship-first biopic about how the Four Seasons were built, broken, and rebuilt around Frankie Valli’s voice. The problem is that Clint Eastwood’s restrained approach often drains the story of the snap and momentum you expect from a music movie, leaving stretches that feel oddly lifeless and slow. The narrative can also come off scattered, jumping between conflicts and subplots that don’t always earn their screen time, so the “rise-and-fall” arc feels more confused than propulsive. If you’re craving a high-energy jukebox celebration with wall-to-wall performances, this may disappoint, but if you’re patient with a more subdued, drama-leaning take and you already love the songs, there’s enough solid singing and period flavor to make it passable.
