Trafficked (2017)

Trafficked is the kind of drama that doesn’t ask for your attention so much as demand it, taking a sprawling, international evil and making it heartbreakingly personal through three young women whose courage becomes the film’s quiet, blazing center. Director Will Wallace keeps the tone urgent and unglamorous—more witness than thriller—so the tension comes not from twists, but from the raw, moment-to-moment fight to stay human in a system designed to erase you. Elisabeth Röhm and Ashley Judd anchor the story with a grounded, procedural edge that helps the film feel like more than misery; it’s a pointed look at how trafficking is enabled, disguised, and profited from. Trafficked is clearly trying to shine a harsh light on global sex trafficking and push viewers toward outrage and empathy, and the intention is hard to argue with.
