Ice Quake is clearly aiming for cozy, holiday-flavored disaster escapism: a family survival story wrapped around an Alaska catastrophe with a ticking-clock “save the world” hook. The problem is the science is pure hand-waving, the characters are mostly stock types, and the plot lurches from one convenient crisis to the next, so if you need realism or sharp writing, you’ll be rolling your eyes a lot. The effects and quake sequences look TV-budget, and the pacing can feel uneven, but the snowy scenery does some heavy lifting and the cast tries to sell the emotion.
