Wire Room (2022)

Wire Room is a lean, claustrophobic action-thriller built around a terrific hook: the hero isn’t kicking down doors, he’s trapped behind glass and monitors, fighting to keep a man alive with nothing but a headset, instincts, and a rulebook that’s about to catch fire. Director Matt Eskandari keeps the tension tight and immediate, turning surveillance work into a pressure-cooker of split-second choices, while Kevin Dillon sells the panic and determination of a rookie who realizes the system may be more dangerous than the criminals. Bruce Willis brings a gravelly, seen-it-all presence that fits the movie’s hard-edged, late-night cable vibe, where loyalty is scarce and every call can be fatal. It’s not for viewers allergic to rough language or gunplay, but if you like crime stories that move fast and squeeze suspense from a confined setting, this one goes down like a shot of adrenaline.

Wire Room wants to be a tense, real-time thriller about a rookie agent stuck behind monitors, trying to save a target without blowing the operation, with corruption closing in from all sides. The problem is the execution: the writing leans on clichés, the editing and staging feel choppy, and the action rarely delivers the punch the premise promises, leaving most of the “pressure” to be told rather than felt. It also carries that unmistakable low-budget look and a lot of harsh language, with bursts of violence that are more blunt than thrilling. If you’re mainly here for slick set pieces, sharp plotting, or a standout Bruce Willis showcase, this likely isn’t for you—but if you can tolerate a cheap-and-cheerful crime programmer and just want background-level suspense, it’s passable.
