Kahlil Gibran’s The Prophet is clearly aiming to be a gentle, art-forward meditation on freedom, love, and truth, using animation to turn Gibran’s poetry into visual “chapters.” The problem is it often feels less like a cohesive movie and more like a loosely connected gallery of segments, where the framing story about Mustafa’s escape is too thin to carry the weight between the poetic interludes. If you’re not already moved by Gibran’s writing or you need strong plot momentum, the film can come off as unfocused and, yes, pretty sleepy. On the plus side, the animation is frequently beautiful and sincere, so it may still land if you’re in the mood for a contemplative, message-first experience rather than a narrative-driven one.
