Taylor Kitsch and Aaron Taylor-Johnson bring a tense, contrasting chemistry, while Salma Hayek and Benicio Del Toro practically steal the movie with performances that make the cartel feel terrifyingly human. If you’re allergic to dark humor, heightened violence, or Stone’s in-your-face sensibility, it may be too much—but if you want a bold, compulsively watchable ride, this one delivers.
