Restart the Earth is the kind of lean, high-energy sci-fi creature feature that knows exactly what it is: a brisk, B-movie thrill ride where nature bites back, and it has the good sense to keep moving. The film drops you into vine-choked city ruins and keeps the tension humming with punchy action beats, scrappy survival momentum, and effects that sell the unsettling idea of plants turning predatory without getting bogged down in heavy sermonizing. There’s a pulpy, crowd-pleasing confidence to its tone—serious stakes, but a wink in the pacing—that makes it easy to watch in one sitting. It’s not for everyone if you’re sensitive to intense violence, harsh language, or a few genuinely uncomfortable moments, but if you’re on the fence and want fast, fun apocalypse entertainment, this one delivers.

Restart the Earth is clearly aiming for a big, patriotic, end-of-the-world creature feature where nature fights back and a small team has to pull off a last-ditch mission to save humanity. The problem is the script is mostly there to shuttle you from one noisy set piece to the next, leaning hard on familiar sacrifice beats and melodrama that can feel cheesy rather than earned. It’s also pretty derivative, and while the plant-monster concept has some fun energy, the effects can look unconvincing enough to pull you out of the danger. If you want tight sci-fi horror with smart writing and believable tension, this likely isn’t it—but if you’re happy with a loud, disposable action ride and can tolerate clunky dialogue (including a few unsettling moments), you might still get some popcorn value out of it.
