Tetsuya Nakashima turns a classroom tragedy into a hypnotic moral labyrinth, using shifting perspectives, bold visual style, and an almost musical sense of rhythm to pull you deeper into its psychology. Takako Matsu anchors the film with a performance that’s controlled, chilling, and heartbreakingly human, while the young cast makes the story’s unease land with startling credibility. This isn’t comfort viewing—it’s bleak, intense, and often brutal—but if you can stomach its darkness, it rewards you with a gripping, brilliantly constructed experience that lingers long after the final frame.

Confessions is aiming for a cold, razor-sharp moral thriller about grief, guilt, and the way adults and kids can weaponize each other, and it commits to that bleak vision without blinking.
