Sam Worthington sells the desperation, Elizabeth Banks brings a surprisingly human steadiness to the negotiation, and the whole thing has that glossy, mid-budget “they don’t make enough of these anymore” vibe: fast, fun, and engineered for a satisfying Friday-night watch. If you want realism or subtle character study, this may feel like a contraption—but if you’re in the mood for a punchy, twisty crime ride with a great central set piece, it delivers.

Man on a Ledge wants to be a high-concept, ticking-clock thriller where one public crisis masks a clever heist, and you can feel the movie straining to keep the tension high. The problem is the plot runs on coincidence and convenience, so if you need your crime stories to feel remotely plausible, the escalating twists will start to look more silly than suspenseful. Performances are serviceable and the Manhattan setting plus the ledge setup can deliver a few solid “what happens next?” moments, but the execution is too slick for its own good and the emotional stakes never fully land.
