Corrective Measures (2022)

Corrective Measures is the kind of scrappy, pulpy sci-fi actioner that knows exactly what it is: a comic-book prison pressure cooker where power, paranoia, and ego ricochet off steel walls until something has to give. Sean Patrick O’Reilly keeps the pace mean and propulsive, letting the movie’s B-movie swagger carry sly little jabs at systems built on control, exploitation, and the fantasy that violence can “fix” people. Michael Rooker brings a wonderfully grimy authority as the warden, and the film has a rough-edged, late-night VOD vibe that makes its anarchy feel immediate and fun rather than precious. It won’t convert viewers looking for polished superhero spectacle, but if you want a watchable, high-energy thriller with attitude and a few teeth behind the madness, this one delivers.

Corrective Measures wants to be a gritty, contained supervillain-prison riot thriller, mixing comic-book powers with a tense “everyone’s trapped” survival setup. The problem is the execution: the pacing drags, the action feels cheap rather than punchy, and the story leans on familiar beats without enough style or sharp writing to make them pop. Performances are uneven, and even the recognizable faces can’t fully sell the clunky dialogue and TV-movie look. If you’re craving polished superhero mayhem or clever world-building, this will likely feel like a waste of time—but if you can tolerate bargain-bin production values for a few fun power moments and a simple, nasty prison vibe, you might get some guilty enjoyment out of it.
