Something sinister has come to the shores of Erin Island, unbeknownst to the quaint population of this sleepy fishing village resting somewhere off Ireland’s coast. First, some fishermen go missing. Then there is the rash of whale carcasses suddenly washing up on the beach. When the murders start, it’s up to two mismatched cops – an irresponsible alcoholic and his new partner, a by-the-book woman from the mainland – to protect the townsfolk from the giant, bloodsucking, tentacled aliens that prey upon them. Their only weapon, they discover, is booze. If they want to survive the creatures’ onslaught, everyone will have to get very, very drunk!

Explained

What people think about Grabbers

Grabbers is the kind of genre delight that earns your affection the old-fashioned way: by taking a wonderfully ridiculous premise and playing it with such straight-faced conviction that the laughs and the scares both land. Set on a wind-battered Irish island where everyone knows everyone, it mixes cozy pub banter and community warmth with genuinely slimy, well-crafted creature mayhem, letting the tension build even as the jokes sneak up on you. The mismatched-cop dynamic gives the film a sturdy human spine, so you’re not just watching tentacles and chaos—you’re rooting for people you actually like. It won’t be for purists who want their horror uncut with comedy, but if you’re open to a crowd-pleasing midnight movie with real charm and surprisingly effective effects, this one goes down smooth.
