Halloween (2018) is clearly trying to be a crowd-pleasing “back to basics” sequel: erase the messy continuity, give Laurie Strode a tougher, trauma-shaped edge, and deliver a lean, modern Michael Myers rampage. But a lot of the impact gets undercut by clunky dialogue, some awkward staging, and a story that leans hard on familiar franchise beats and fan-service instead of earning its turns.
