Lake Placid 3 (2010)
A game warden moves his family to Lake Placid, once the site of deadly crocodile attacks. Locals assure him the crocs are gone, but his mischievous young son finds a few baby crocs and begins feeding them. They quickly grow into very big adults and start attacking the game warden's family and nearby town.
What people think about Lake Placid 3
Lake Placid 3 knows exactly what kind of ride it is: a lean, mean creature-feature that wastes no time getting to the teeth and keeps the tension snapping like a bear trap. It’s the sort of B-movie where the fun comes from watching capable actors treat the madness with just enough sincerity to make it work, with Colin Ferguson grounding the chaos and Yancy Butler bringing a tough, welcome jolt of personality whenever she’s on screen. The vibe is pulpy and brisk—part backwoods thriller, part monster-movie romp—with plenty of gory payoffs and a steady drumbeat of “don’t go near the water” dread. If you’re looking for prestige horror or subtle scares, this isn’t it, but if you want a knowingly outrageous crocodile rampage that moves fast and delivers the goods, it’s an easy, entertaining pick.
Lake Placid 3 is trying to deliver cheap, fast “giant croc” thrills with a simple setup, a body count, and a few splashes of dark humor in that Syfy-style creature-feature lane. The problem is it looks and feels like a direct-to-video sequel: the effects are hit-or-miss, the tension is mostly routine, and the characters often behave in ways that exist to move the next attack along rather than make you care. If you’re hoping for the sharper wit and charm of the original (or any real escalation in filmmaking craft), this one will likely feel like filler with teeth. But if you can enjoy low-budget monster mayhem as background entertainment and don’t mind bloody creature violence (including a pet getting it), it does offer a steady drip of crocodile carnage.
