Wyrmwood: Apocalypse (2022)
In a zombie-infested Australian wasteland, soldier Rhys has dedicated his life to tracking and capturing survivors for the Surgeon General in hopes of finding a cure.
What people think about Wyrmwood: Apocalypse
Wyrmwood: Apocalypse is the kind of zombie sequel that earns its title by turning the volume up on everything that’s fun about the genre—speed, invention, and a scrappy Australian attitude that makes the wasteland feel lived-in rather than generic. Kiah Roache-Turner stages action with a propulsive, diesel-soaked momentum, and the camera is always in the right place to catch the movie’s gleefully practical mayhem without losing the thread of the chase. Beneath the carnage there’s a surprisingly punchy, quick-witted streak and a redemption-fueled drive that keeps it moving like a midnight crowd-pleaser instead of a grim endurance test. It’s absolutely not for the gore-averse or anyone sensitive to flashing lights, but if you want a ferocious, inventive zombie ride that knows exactly what it is, this one delivers.
Wyrmwood: Apocalypse is trying to be a turbo-charged Aussie grindhouse sequel: bigger stunts, louder gore, and a redemption-arc soldier barreling through a wasteland to topple cartoonishly evil bosses. If you’re hoping for smart world-building or characters you’ll actually care about, this one often swaps story for nonstop carnage, and the constant escalation can feel more exhausting than exciting. The humor and attitude will land for some, but it’s the kind of film that expects you to cheer for the spectacle rather than ask questions. Watch it if you want inventive, ultra-graphic zombie mayhem and don’t mind heavy profanity and flashing lights; skip it if you’re after tension, emotion, or anything resembling subtlety.
