Idris Elba anchors the film with grounded, human urgency, making the survival stakes feel personal rather than cartoonish, while the movie delivers exactly the B-movie pleasures it promises—clean setup, escalating peril, and hard-earned thrills. It’s not for viewers who shy away from bloody animal-attack violence, but if you want an efficient, crowd-pleasing ride that doesn’t overstay its welcome, this one bites down and doesn’t let go.

Beast wants to be a lean, high-stress survival thriller about grief, family repair, and a relentless predator closing in. The problem is it often plays like a familiar “man vs. animal” ride with thin character work and plot choices that can feel more convenient than convincing, which undercuts the emotional weight it’s reaching for. If you’re allergic to implausible escapes, loud spectacle, and tension built on constant threat rather than smart escalation, this will likely wear you down instead of pulling you in. On the plus side, it moves fast, delivers some effectively brutal set pieces, and Idris Elba brings more sincerity than the script really earns.
