Aquaman (2018)
Half-human, half-Atlantean Arthur Curry is taken on the journey of his lifetime to discover if he is worth of being a king.
What people think about Aquaman
Aquaman is the rare superhero movie that remembers cinema can be a theme park ride—loud, colorful, and joyfully committed to its own mythology. James Wan stages a globe-trotting fantasy that’s less brooding and more buoyant, letting the underwater kingdoms burst with visual imagination and creature-feature wonder while the action keeps snapping forward with comic-book momentum. Jason Momoa’s Aquaman is pure charisma—part reluctant hero, part rock-star warrior—anchoring all the spectacle with a grin and a pulse. If you prefer grounded realism, this might feel deliciously over-the-top, but if you want a big-screen adventure that leans into fun with confidence, it’s an easy ticket.
Aquaman is aiming for a loud, candy-colored underwater epic—part superhero origin story, part globe-trotting fantasy quest—and James Wan commits hard to the spectacle. The problem is it often feels overstuffed and overlong, with choppy pacing, clunky dialogue, and plot beats that pile up so fast the movie can start to feel messy rather than exciting. If you’re sensitive to heavy CGI or you want coherent world-building and grounded emotion, this may play like a noisy, formulaic theme-park ride instead of a wonder-filled adventure. Still, Jason Momoa’s charisma and the sheer scale of the visuals can make it a decent pick if you’re happy to switch your brain off and enjoy the bombast.
