Explained

What people think about MacGruber

MacGruber is special because it commits, with a straight face and a fearless grin, to being the dumbest possible version of an action hero movie—and somehow that dedication turns into comedy gold. Will Forte plays the title man-child like he genuinely believes he’s in a high-stakes thriller, and that deadpan sincerity makes every explosion, tantrum, and baffling decision land harder. Jorma Taccone keeps the pace snappy and the vibe gleefully unhinged, mixing slick action beats with a screenplay that’s happy to go for the most outrageous joke and then push it one step further. It’s very R-rated—crude, violent, and proudly tasteless—so it won’t be for everyone, but if you like your parodies bold and your laughs shameless, this one earns its cult reputation.
