Andy On brings a scrappy intensity that makes the underworld scramble feel personal, while Bernice Liu surprises with a steelier edge than you might expect, giving the film a venomous spark amid the bloodletting. It’s not for viewers who want subtlety or a gentle ride—this is an R-rated descent into triad chaos—but if you’re on the fence and you miss action that’s physical, stylish, and mean, it’s an easy yes.

Bad Blood wants to be a gritty Hong Kong triad power-struggle thriller, full of betrayals, sudden executions, and a ruthless climb to the top. The problem is it plays out like a checklist of genre beats, with thin characterization and plotting that’s so predictable you’ll often feel ahead of the movie rather than pulled into it. The pacing also slips badly in the back half, where scenes start to feel stitched together instead of escalating with real tension. If you’re here purely for R-rated gang violence and a few tough-guy moments (and you like seeing Simon Yam bring some gravitas to shaky material), you might get something out of it, but if you need sharp writing, coherent direction, or a satisfying crime saga, this is likely to waste your time.
