Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero feels special because it lets the franchise breathe in a new way, putting Piccolo and Gohan in the spotlight and reminding you why these characters matter beyond sheer power levels. The vibe is bright, punchy, and playfully “superhero” in spirit, mixing nostalgic nods with genuinely funny character beats before snapping into crisp, high-energy action that knows exactly when to go big. Its animation style may be a little different from what some fans expect, but it’s used with confidence—making fights easy to follow, expressions pop, and set pieces land with real momentum. If you’re on the fence because you think it’s “just another Dragon Ball movie,” this one earns your time by feeling both comfortingly familiar and surprisingly character-driven.

Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero is clearly trying to give Piccolo and Gohan a long-overdue spotlight while delivering a Saturday-morning “superhero vs. androids” romp with glossy, modern visuals. The problem is it spends a lot of time talking you through its moving parts—backstory, explanations, and convenient plot pushes—so the momentum can feel stop-start unless you’re already invested in the lore. The CG-heavy animation and character models also won’t work for everyone; some will find it fresh and readable, others will think it looks a bit plasticky compared to classic Dragon Ball.
