Jonathan Rhys Meyers is the movie’s dark engine, radiating a calm, predatory menace that makes every conversation feel like it could tip into something uglier, while Luke Kleintank gives the guilt-ravaged counterweight real texture. If you like compact, character-driven thrillers that tighten the screws instead of exploding them, this one delivers; if you’re after big action or elaborate mystery mechanics, it may feel deliberately contained.

The Good Neighbor is clearly aiming for a tense, guilt-driven morality thriller about how one bad decision can rot a friendship from the inside out. The problem is it leans on convenient turns and familiar beats, so even with a solid setup you can often see where scenes are headed long before they land, which drains the suspense. Character depth is pretty thin beyond the basic “guilty vs. remorseless” dynamic, making the escalation feel more plotted than inevitable.
