The Girl from the Other Side (2023)

20231h 10mAnimationDramaMysteryFantasy

Once upon a time, in a far, faraway place, there were two lands. The world was divided into an inner land and an outer land. People feared the outer land, inhabited by eerie beings, the carriers of curse. One day, on the border to the inner land inhabited by humans, one such being finds a girl on heaps of abandoned dead bodies. The girl says her name is Shiva and shows affection to the "being" who found her, calling him "Teacher." This is a story of two people—one human, one inhuman—who linger in the hazy twilight that separates night from day.

Explained

What people think about The Girl from the Other Side

The Girl from the Other Side feels like a fairy tale told in charcoal and moonlight, where every frame looks hand-crafted and every silence carries meaning. It draws you in with an enchanting, storybook atmosphere—mysterious but gentle—then quietly deepens into something profoundly emotional about care, otherness, and the fragile trust between two souls on opposite sides of fear. The animation is stunning in a way that doesn’t show off; it simply invites you to linger, to feel the twilight hush of its world and the tenderness at its center. If you need fast plot turns or loud spectacle, it may feel too hushed and meditative, but if you’re open to an artistic, hauntingly beautiful experience, it’s the kind of film that stays with you like a lingering dream.
